Nottingham Tinnitus Support Group
In partnership with Tinnitus UK, we provide and facilitate Nottingham's official tinnitus support group. A safe and supportive place where individuals who are troubled by tinnitus may come to connect with others who are living with the condition.
It is estimated that over 46,000 people experience tinnitus in Nottingham alone, and an estimated 8 million people in the UK will be affected by tinnitus by 2025 - around 1 in 7 adults.
Facilitated by Dr. Jeff Davies, the group will enable people with tinnitus to meet others with the condition, hear useful tips on coping methods, find out what help is available and hear about the latest research. Jeff is an independent audiologist with a PhD in tinnitus. He has experienced tinnitus for at least 30 years, spanning right back to childhood:

“Tinnitus is something I have come to befriend. I would consider it my definition of silence, a nocturnal constant hiss. In later adult years, it has become accompanied by a second intermittent sound: more of a roar. This one seems to be affiliated with my habitual teeth grinding and jaw clenching. I don’t experience it continually.
I am truly fascinated by this enigmatic condition. As a clinician, I get great satisfaction through helping and supporting those with tinnitus, from the mild to the deeply bothersome. I have seen tinnitus and thought about it from multiple perspectives over the years: as a patient, as a clinician and even as a tinnitus researcher. So, when the opportunity came to re-establish Nottingham’s tinnitus support group, I jumped at it”.
